Meet the new Wouxun KG-UV8D… Maybe

AmateurRadio.com is just one source that is reporting this new ht from one of the most prominent Chinese radio manufacturers to make it’s way to our shores in recent memory.
This bad boy is said to have a beautiful display, true dual receive, full duplex operation, FCC approval as well as what looks like all the usual “chiradio” features.
We know that the earlier Wouxun radios were very inexpensive, yet pretty robust little “disposable” radios with an awful lot of features to offer for the price and at the rumored $130 price tag, This little guy will fit right in!
Can I also point out how nice it will be to put an end to all that “it’s not type accepted” crap!
But, to me that picture looks photoshopped. While this story comes from multiple, pretty good sources… You have to ask yourself why the one and only photo seems to look just like the older Wouxuns only with the screen stretched out. Is it the work of extremely unimaginative 12 year old Chinese designers, or some poor ham in his mom’s basement? Only time will tell.
the uv8d is rumored to be out in March of 2014. That’s this month in case you weren’t aware. So I guess we won’t have long to wait.
Oh, and one more thought…
I wonder if this means that the Baofeng dStar ht is close behind!
