Radio Active HamA short story

EPISODE I
A NEW HOPE FOR AMATEUR RADIO

"It is a period of great sadness and dispair...

That is, until now."

It seems that the further I delve in to the world of amateur radio, the more I find great people with interesting things to say. But then, there's the "other" guys.

You know the type... Know-it-all, do nothings that would rather key their microphone and tell someone that they are breaking the law or aren't "doing it right" than help someone out with some true elmering.

Then there is the type with absolutely no sense of humor. The ones that cringe and snicker at even the slightest attempt to have some fun on the air. "If it's not what I like, than I don't want to hear it".

And, of course there is the rest... God only knows how to explain them all but you've heard 'em...

I have just attempted to explain 1% of the amateur community, 99% are absolutely wonderful people who would give the shirts off their backs to help a fellow ham, people that love having a good time and who attempt to "fix" a "problem", should it arise rather than just ridicule the operator that caused it.

RadioActive Ham was started in June of 2013 in response to this 1%. The very same 1% that, as we see it is holding our hobby down.

When a casual listener, avid scanner listener, new or even experienced Ham hears the nonsense that occasionally presents itself, they have a tendency to just... turn it off.

That is where we come in. We welcome ALL, new, old, casual or hard core. Anyone who truly wants to be a part of a revolution in amateur radio...

We intend to accomplish this with a general mindset of equality. No one is "lesser" here. Whether the class, or no class of license, all shall be respected and ALL shall have a voice.

As of Jun 1st, 2013 we have multiple web sites, many members and formally starting a new club in the Indianapolis area

We hope to accomplish this without any dues from members and only donations. That part is an experiment we all hope will succeed!

Please stay tuned for further updates.
